Current Favorites: May 2019

This week has been extremely busy for us and we actually were planning on writing a different blog post for today. We are really trying to figure out how to balance our life when it comes to working on the blog, taking time for ourselves, shooting pictures, being able to work out, run errands, do stuff around the house, etc.

Honestly, it does feel a bit stressful when things don’t work out and when we have to move things around. Especially when we like a good routine. But, as we go through seasons of life, some are just busier than others. It’s hard, it feels exhausting, and it’s encouraging all at the same time. Both of us have been working really hard on just manifesting good things in our life. It’s easy to feel like you can’t balance it all, but without that chaos, we wouldn’t be where we are. On a less serious note, let’s start talking current favorites for May 2019!

Watermelon and BBQ:

We are coming into the unofficial start to summer and truthfully, summertime is not our favorite season. Our summers here are HOT, at least for our liking. We are talking high temps and humidity. That being said, there is a lot that we do love about summer, like BBQing. There is just something about a grilled meal that makes us happy. We grill veggies, meat, and even make our pizzas on the grill. We get a lot of recipes from our Healthy Recipes Pinterest board.

Watermelon is probably our favorite summertime fruit. You can’t beat a cold juicy watermelon, hah!

PLNK (Lagree Fitness):

If you missed our Instagram stories, we shared that we were trying out a new workout. We both workout at The Bar Method and actually, Katie is a Bar Method instructor. We LOVE it but felt like we needed to add something else into our workout routine. We’re headed off to Florida soon, so we gotta get our summer body ready!

We decided to check out PLNK (Lagree Fitness). It’s a total body, 50-minute workout with a focus on targeted muscular strength building and conditioning. It was sooooo incredibly hard, but we are hooked. If you have one in your city go and check it out.

Patio Season:

Sitting out on the patio (when the temp is just right) is one of our favorite things to do. In fact, we would choose to wait longer at a restaurant, just to eat outside.

Midi-Skirts:

This season, I (Katie) have been gravitating towards more and more midi-skirts. I used to shy away from them since I am only 5’2″. Honestly, I felt like I couldn’t pull them off, but I am here to tell you that is not the case. I look for midi-skirts that have a slit in them or are more of a wrapped skirt style. Those styles don’t cut me off and allow my leg to shoe creating the illusion of longer legs.

Surprise, surprise that my favorite way to style it is with a graphic tee or a basic tee. Although, a cute blouse tied at the waist is another good one. You can see just how I did that here. I like adding a hat, a pair of sandals, and I instantly feel very chic.

Z Supply Overalls:

These leopard short overalls are going to be a major staple in my summer wardrobe. They are so comfortable and easy to throw on. They come in a ton of different prints + colors.

Perfect Bar Bites:

I (Lydia) have been a big fan of Perfect Bar for a while now. They are a refrigerated protein bar that is organic, non-GMO and has 20+ superfoods. They came out with Perfect Bites which are just a bite-size form of the bars. Can’t get over how freaking GOOD they are!

Oat Milk:

If you haven’t tried oat milk in your coffee, we highly suggest you do. Our favorite brand is Oatly and you can get it at Target. It makes your coffee taste so creamy and so delicious. No other milk compares, seriously!

Anine Bing Sweatshirt:

Anine Bing has quickly become a favorite brand of ours. I (Lydia) just picked up the vintage bing sweatshirt. It is definitely on the pricier side for a sweatshirt, but you’ll quickly understand why because of the great quality.

Fudgy Crinkle Top Brownies:

Okay, these brownies are mouthwatering good. They are grain free, gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar-free. We try to make healthy(er) treats throughout the week and this is by far one of our favorites. Tip: put it in the fridge for fudge-like consistency.

Aerie Shorts:

Just picked up these Aerie shorts in heather grey (currently on sale). They are a sweatshirt fleece fabric, which means they are the comfiest ever. I got this distressed boyfriend tee to pair with them for a swimsuit coverup.

If you check out our saved Instagram highlight called “shop” then you can see exactly what they look like on + sizing details.

Judah & The Lion:

I (Lydia) have been listening to Judah & The Lions new album Pep Talks on repeat. They are an alternative band from Nashville, Tn.

Lack of Color:

Every time we post a picture wearing a Lack of Color hat, we get flooded with comments about it. They are the nicest quality, come in all different style and colors, and definitely worth the price. Our favorite style is the Rancher.

Lululemon Leggings:

During Black Friday, I picked up the in the movement tight and I have been wearing them non stop since then. They are the perfect length and have the right amount of material. I have 3 colors and I wear them on rotation almost every single day.

Total Bellas:

If you like reality tv, then check out Total Bellas. It’s about twins Nikki and Brie Bella who are two of the most popular divas in recent WWE history. I just love how real and normal they are, especially with being in the public eye.

If you missed our blog post from Tuesday we opened up about the biggest blogging mistake we’ve made. We not only talk about the mistake we made but how we learned from it and how it led us to invest in our business to help us grow.
