Oh Fall, you deserve a whole blog post on reasons why we love you. Let’s face it, you probably already can tell by all the Fall Trends blog posts we’ve put out. We have officially busted out the sweaters, been baking all the treats, and burning all the candles! And now, time to talk about why Fall is so GREAT in just 13 reasons.
Plaid Pants
Each season there are always a few items that you will see us wearing over and over again. SO much so that you might get tired of seeing it! One of those clothing items is plaid/grid pants. But we haven’t just started loving them this year, we’ve been sporting them since the beginning of our blogging career. See all the plaid prints we’ve styled!
Fall Candles
Candles make us happy, there is nothing better than lighting one. The warm glow and the delicious smell just create that oh so cozy feeling. We are always on the hunt for candles and this time of year we look for ones that smell like vanilla, caramel, or pumpkin spice. Bath & Body Works truly has the best smelling candles around but we also find a lot of our candles at Home Goods as well.
Layering
The cooler temps mean all the layering. Your denim jacket thrown over a chunky sweater, striped long sleeve under a thinner sweater, or a coat thrown over all the layers + a big scarf. The options are endless! One way you’re going to see us layer this Fall/Winter is with dresses. We talked more about how we’re going to do just that in Fall Dresses To Wear With Boots.
Maybe you’re thinking I adore the idea of layering, but don’t know what’s going to look right? Totally okay… take a look at our Fall Style Inspo and Street Style Pinterest boards.
Sweaters
If you look up the definition of Fall, sweaters should be in there. Sweaters are everyone’s best friend! You can find them in all different materials, they can be form fitting or oversized, short or long… so on and so forth! Another thing we love about sweaters (besides the fact that you can style them all sorts of ways) is that they can be worn for years to come.
All The Cozy Things
You know cozy is our middle name, right? Come this time of year and being cozy is in full force. It can be as simple as adding a few new pillows, blankets, or decor around the house. We love burning candles and stocking up on wall scents to keep the house feeling warm & cozy as well.
On our blog post, Tips For Shopping Home Decor On Amazon, we shared these scented candles that are meant to bring home to you, no matter where you are.
Fall Home Decor
Home Goods becomes our second home this time of year. Once we get the holiday decor out, we like adding in a few new things and that’s where Home Goods comes into play.
Mix Matching Prints
Mix matching prints are still on major repeat over here. I don’t think we are ever going to stop mixing our prints unless that becomes a big no-no in the fashion world or something… hopefully not! If you’re unsure of how to mix prints, we did a whole blog post: Mix Match Fashion How To Mix Patterns. A simple way to mix match patterns is by adding a fun print like my leopard shoes. Leopard is a neutral color/print that pairs well with just about anything. Plus, animal prints are very hot this season.
Want to know a little something about this outfit? It cost $28! Yep, you read that correctly. The pants were $15 and the top was $17 from Forever 21. I mean how can you go wrong with that? A simple and inexpensive way to jump on board with one of the latest trends.
Baking Treats
Something about Fall just pulls out the baker in us, especially when it’s chilly outside. You just have to make those chocolate chip cookies to warm yourself up, duh! Make sure to keep up with our Treats board on Pinterest, we’re always pinning to it.
Speaking of baking and treats, we’re going to be putting out our first ever food blog post soon. Just a little hint for ya, it has something to do with muffins.
Pumpkin Patches
Every year since I (Lydia) have been in elementary school we have gone to the same Pumpkin Patch. We get our pumpkins, go on a tractor ride, and go through the haunted house.
Another thing that has to do with pumpkins is carving them. Traditions are always so much fun + we love taking the seeds out from the pumpkins and baking them.
Fall Candy
Major sweet tooth over here! The Halloween candy that comes out every year is dangerous for us. We have been making this ever so addicting mix that’s a combination of peanuts, candy corn, and m&ms. Some other candy that we are obsessed with this time of year is tootsie fruit rolls and mellowcreme pumpkins.
That Crisp In The Air
So many people love Summer and although we enjoy the longer days and the laid-back feel, Fall is hands down our favorite season. Something about the cool crisp air that truly brings butterflies to our stomach. The leaves are changing, the smell of the air, being able to sit outside and not melt… I don’t know what it is, but man, if we had our way it would be Fall all year round!
Fall Clothing Trends
Our favorite clothing season is and will ALWAYS be Fall clothes. We do love each season and the opportunity it brings to get new pieces of clothing, but Fall wins each year. That time of year that you can pull out your jeans, wear dresses with boots, and began layering with blazers, jackets, sweaters, and coats. Needs some dress and boot inspo? Check out our post on Fall Dresses With Boots.
This season has been one of our favorites, we have already incorporated so many Fall Fashion Trends into our closet.
Fall TV
Since 2009 every Wednesday night we have had a “Family Fun Night”. Each week one of the kids got to pick where we were going to order pizza, have soda (I didn’t keep soda in the house), and at 7:00 pm we would sit in front of the tv to watch the sitcoms on ABC. The Middle and Modern Family started in 2009 and we instantly fell in love with them.
The boys have moved out, The Middle (which is by far one of our favorite sitcoms ever) ended, but that hasn’t stopped us from our Wednesday “Family Fun Night”. We have changed it up a little by making our own pizzas, we don’t buy soda anymore, but still love Modern Family and of course The Goldbergs. And speaking of those two shows: the new seasons begin tonight. So you know where we will be at …we will be on our couch, eating pizza, with a glass of wine, and enjoying our “Family Fun Night”.
