The neutral trend is big this year. Two months into 2019 and this is will be our second time talking about neutrals. We did a whole blog post highlighting our love for it + how to wear. Needless to say, we’re obsessed!
And if you don’t already have tan or khaki pants, it’s time to invest in a pair. A pair of neutral colored pants are the perfect staple item to add to your closet. Trust us!
What To Wear With Tan Pants
Tan or khaki pants truly can be styled however you want. The color goes with almost anything, so that means no more worrying about if the colors you’re pairing together are going to match or not. Here are some simple outfit ideas:
- Add a white dress shirt and a leather belt for a day at the office.
- Love the neon trend, but not sure how to wear it? Pair it with neutral colored pants to tone the look down.
- Striped tops or sweaters – a classic look.
- Think tan pants are boring? Style them with an unexpected twist such as a pair of combat boots.
- Accessories will always add some flair to any outfit.
- A chambray shirt.
- A white tank.
- Anything black. Something about black and tan together just makes me happy.
Before we talk about the 4 ways I styled my tan pants, let’s touch base on some of the basics first. These tips will help when shopping for some tan pants:
Choose a Classic Cut
Look for a cut that is flattering and will stand the test of time. We are the first to jump on board with new trends, but listen up. When it comes to staple items in our closet, we choose items that we will be able to wear season after season and for years to come.
TIP: Pants that do not have pleats or cuffs are very flattering to all body types.
Fabric
Look for a pair of khaki/tan pants that are multi-seasonal. A pair that can be worn not only during the cold temps but also during spring and summer. A cotton blend that is wrinkle resistant will allow you to look put together no matter if you are wearing your pants to work or to play.
Appropriate for Any Occasion
Depending on how you style it, tan pants can be worn to work (if you have a business casual office) as well as be worn for a casual night out with friends.
Tan Pants 4 Ways
White High Neck Blouse and Flats:
Instead of a classic white button-down dress shirt, switch it up. Look for a blouse with ruffles, charming prints, and feminine details. Pair it with a pretty flat or heel.
Camisole, Blazer, and Heels:
Camisoles are an item that can be paired with just about anything. From your favorite cutoff denim shorts to a pair of khakis. Depending on the temperature, you can pair it with a blazer, coat, cardigan, or can be a stand-alone piece.
All neutral outfit:
This can be more than just your tans paired together. Think dark brown, grey, cream, white, white, navy, or khaki.
Graphic Tee and Sneakers:
You don’t need to hear this again, but you know our love for graphic tees runs deep. For us, it’s one of those pieces that we style with just about anything. Throw on a denim jacket or leather jacket and a pair of sneakers. You have now created a casual look!
How do you feel about tan pants, do you already have a pair in your closet? Or have we convinced you that you now need some? Either way, don’t be intimidated by wearing khaki or tan pants. They’re on trend, they’re easy to style, and they make you look so darn chic.
Those pants look awesome on you!!! I especially love them with the leopard heel.
