Hope you are having a great week so far – always so excited when the weekend hits. Today, I wanted to share how to style a satin midi skirt. One of the many reasons why I’m obsessed with midi skirts is because they can be dressed up or down + taken from summer to fall.
Speaking of fall, we are counting down the days until it’s here! You better believe I’ll be sharing how to style a midi skirt for fall time. But until then, here is today’s post for you.
There is no right or wrong way to style a satin midi skirt, it’s all according to what you like to wear. Start by looking through your closet and pulling the pieces that you think would look good together. If you’re feeling stumped or looking for inspo, head to Pinterest aka our favorite resource for all the things. Along with that, I have been finding myself on Anine Bing’s website for outfit ideas.
How To Style a Satin Midi Skirt
Start with your top:
Personally, I like styling my satin midi skirts with a graphic tee. Since satin is more on the feminine side, a graphic tee gives off those edgy/rock ‘n’ roll vibes. I tucked my tee in all the way since I’m wearing a belt, but you could also knot it at the front.
Not feeling a graphic tee? Go for a plain tee that’s knotted at the front, anything that’s cropped (hoodie, t-shirt, or sweater), a sweatshirt, a chunky sweater (front tucked or oversized), a tank/camisole, bodysuit, or button-down top. When the temps start to get cooler, throw on a leather/suede jacket, denim jacket, or blazer. I also love the idea of tieing a flannel or denim jacket around the waist.
Add those Accessories:
Oh, accessories how I love you so. One of my favorite ways to add more detail to any outfit is by throwing on delicate jewelry. Just some earrings, a necklace or two, several rings, and I’m ready to go! Another go-to accessory of ours is a Lack of Color hat.
For today’s exact outfit, I decided to take the accessories a step further and add this diamond belt – it gives off both feminine and edgy vibes. I truly believe the belt is what made this whole outfit come together.
Pick out the shoes:
Lastly, pick out your shoes. I find myself gravitating towards boots and sneakers the most! I’ve been wearing these boots (pictured above) all summer long because they go with just about everything. You can see how I styled them on these blog posts: what to wear to a concert, dresses under $100, and the best spring shoes + outfit ideas.
If I didn’t choose boots for this look, I would have thrown on a pair of sneakers. If I wanted to dress up my satin midi skirt, I would go for a pair of heels. I’m imagining some kitten heels right now, so dreamy!
Love this skirt! So obsessed!
