Tips For Choosing Holiday Party Attire

We all want to look good and feel good in what we’re wearing, but the last thing we want to stress about is our Holiday party attire. This is a longer post, so let’s get right to talk about what to wear for that Holiday part of yours. One thing we do promise is after reading our tips, you’ll be rocking an outfit in no time.

How To Choose A Holiday Party Outfit

Below are a few things you can ask yourself to help choose your holiday style for each party you attend. If you still have questions about what to wear, don’t hesitate to ask us!

Things to consider

  • Should you go festive or classic– Tis the season to sparkle and shine! So bust out your sequin top or glitter sweater for that festive party looks! If you are more of a classic girl, choose a gorgeous red sweater or plaid blouse.
  • What colors should you wearRed and green are classic Christmas colors but don’t overlook blue or even an all-white winter look!
  • Does the party have a theme (ugly sweater, ice skating, secret Santa)– Theme parties can be so much FUN, so have fun with this one!
  • Who is hosting the party? Is the party you are attending hosted by work, church, or friends? This helps guide you on how you should dress. A pencil skirt with a festive top or sweater is always a great look for a more conservative event.
  • Is the party more sophisticated or fun? A black dress with a statement heel is a perfect choice for a more sophisticated party. Add a chic faux fur coat for warmth.
  • Where is the holiday party– Depending on where your party is being held may dictate how you dress for the party… some restaurants have a dress code.
  • What is the attire on the invite? If you are not sure, always air on a dressier look like a pair of velvet pants or skirt.

Six Casual Holiday Outfits

I love this look because it truly describes me. If I can get away with wearing my pajamas out in public I will. For the holiday’s though, I guess I should get dressed up a little more 😉 You can easily style any sweatshirt you own by adding a fun pair of pants… in my case velvet pants! For an even more holiday look, find some booties like the ones I am wearing.

Other casual holiday outfit ideas:

  • oversized plaid shirt paired under an oversized sweater, skinny jeans, and booties
  • blazer + bodysuit + jeans + black heels
  • off the shoulder sweater dress with black over the knee boots
  • faux fur coat paired with jeans and sneakers for a super casual look
  • velvet top + black skinny jeans + studded boots

If you’re a casual girl, but want to feel a little more dressed up for the holidays then I say this look is for you! What I love about this whole outfit is that each piece can be worn so many different ways… dressed up or down. Just alone, this jacket and these jeans make such a great statement!

This has got to be my favorite look yet! I love me some velvet and I love a good coat, combine those two and I’m instantly sold. Since we’re casual girls over here, adding a henley with this coat is the right amount of dressing up for me or should I say semi-formal? And there’s the booties again… major heart eyes!

To be honest, this isn’t my favorite look! But hey, that is real life over here. I DO love each of these pieces on their own though. I just picked up this fur vest and it’s unbelievably soft!

Other semi-formal holiday outfit ideas:

  • ruffle mini dress and over the knee boots
  • sequined top + black skinny jeans + pointy-toe pumps. Since it’s winter time, you can always throw on a black cardigan or black leather jacket

I don’t know if everyone would consider this formal, but in our eyes it definitely is! If you don’t have a fur coat then throw on a leather jacket. This is the perfect sequin dress that will catch everyone’s eye and make you the most fashionable at any Christmas party or even a family party!

Other formal holiday outfit ideas:
