This weather may be messing with us, but that’s not going to stop us from doing all the Fall shopping. FOR REAL, we have not been the best “fashion bloggers” for months now. What we mean by that is we just haven’t been purchasing a lot of clothes (which is more than okay). When we first started blogging we were buying things left and right because we felt like we always needed new items to style and share on the blog. It’s felt good to be more conscious of what we’re purchasing and just buying items that we love and really are going to wear on repeat. SO, just a little reminder that it’s okay to not keep up with everyone on social media. Follow the path that best suits you and makes you the happiest!
How To Wear A Maxi Dress 5 Different Ways
Apparently, the maxi dress Gods were on our side this year because they usually end up being way too long for us. What’s even better is that the dresses are both so versatile and they’re both polka dots! Proof that we adore polka dots HERE.
1. Leather jacket and a statement bag
A leather jacket is a true staple item to have in your closet. As the temps get cooler I continue to reach for my leather jacket as a layering piece. I spent more than I would typically spend on a leather jacket (I’ve had this one for years now), but I knew that the cut and style would stand the test of time! And if you want to know what other items are wardrobe staples in our closet check out THIS post.
We love adding a hat and a fun statement bag to finish off our look. We got our see-through bag back in the springtime and the trend is still going strong for this fall as well, hallelujah!
2. Plain tee and booties
Layering a plain tee over your maxi dress immediately transforms it. If you need to pack lightly and it’s warm enough to wear a dress, this look is for you! Just imagine how many looks you can create, the options are kind of endless.
Trade out your sandals or wedges for a pair of booties. And of course, if the temps are chillier grab your favorite denim jacket… goodbye spaghetti straps, hello fall layering! Talking about spaghetti straps, that totally reminds me of Elementary school when kids got in trouble for wearing tops where the straps were to thin, haha!
3. Chambray shirt and heels
Layer a chambray shirt over your maxi and tie it in a knot to define your waist. Add in your favorite pair of heels to the mix too and you are ready for dinner or a night out in town.
4. Graphic Tee and denim jacket
You know how we love our graphic tees and our denim jacket. You may even be rolling yours right now because we’ve told you that about a million times already! BUT, they truly are our most worn and most styled items in our closet.
90% of the time we are reaching for a graphic tee to see if we can style it with a new item that we’ve added to our closet. I would say that this look is truly me – a little girlie with a little bit of edge.
5. A Pair of mules
If you live in St. Louis or in other parts of the country where the calendar says it’s fall, but the temps don’t agree, then you may have to keep busting out your summer wardrobe to survive. To add a little bit of fall swap out your sandals for a mule in a color or print that’s going to be in this season. Check out our blog post on Trends You’ll Be Seeing For Fall 2018.
