It’s the Holiday season and with that comes dressing for the Holidays. Our family get-togethers are all really casual, but we do like to get a little more dressed up this time of year. Casual, simple, and comfortable always come to our mind this season because of all the sitting around we’ll be doing + all of the food we’ll be indulging in.
Casual Holiday Outfit Ideas
This season we’ve found ourselves eyeing buffalo plaid print, which is perfect because it just screams the Holidays. Don’t get us wrong, we adore seeing all the sequined pieces and dressed up outfits others are wearing, but sweaters and stretchy pants are calling our name.
It can feel stressful trying to figure out what to wear all while making sure you look somewhat festive. Whether you’re going to be spending time with family, friends, or taking pictures you can easily shop your closet, look fab, and be stress-FREE!
Buffalo Plaid Print
The one print you can find all over the place this time of year. We picked up our buffalo plaid print from Forever 21, but here are some other places with affordable options:
- Nordstrom: outerwear, pajamas, tops, flannels
- Express: the biggest selection from tops, bottoms, dresses, and accessories
- Loft: scarves and blouses
- H&M: tops, skirts, and bottoms
OUTFIT IDEA: buffalo plaid sweater, black jeans, and booties
Glitter Boots
You can never say no to some glitter, easy and festivity ready!
OUTFIT IDEA: blazer, black t-shirt, denim wash jeans, and glitter boots
Red Sweater
If you don’t already own a red sweater in your closet, no worries! Target has a wide selection and you can check to see if you any of them are in stock near you. My favorite place to find red sweaters right now is H&M and they’re all under $50.
OUTFIT IDEA: tan wool coat, a red sweater, and black jeans
Chenille
Chenille is going to keep you warm, cozy, and add some texture to your look. This is such a great material this time of year because of the rich, jewel-toned colors chenille comes in. Check out H&M, Aerie, Forever 21, and Nordstrom.
OUTFIT IDEA: chenille sweater styled with some joggers and sneakers
Flannel Print
Flannel is such a classic print that will never go out of style. You can find flannel just about everywhere! Nordstrom has a wide selection to choose from and if you’re wanting to spend a little more, check out Madewell.
Instead of going for a flannel button-up – look for flannel print in a scarf, skirt, or coat.
Metallic Pleated Skirt
If you’re a skirt girl, this one is for you! A metallic pleated skirt can be dressed up or down, perfect for Holiday pictures, and is stretchy. Wondering how to style? Pinterest has a ton of great outfit ideas.
OUTFIT IDEA: style with a camisole and leather jacket, flannel button-up, or a sweater
Dresses
Dresses are great for the fact that you don’t have to think too much when it comes to styling. Whether it’s a flowy dress or sweater dress pair with booties/over the knee boots and you’re complete. Looking for a dress, H&M is the place!
For some inspiration, we just did a blog post on How To Style A Sweater Dress.
Oversized Sweater
If you know you’re going to be doing a lot of indulging (like us), an oversized sweater is an option. Go for a turtleneck if you’re wanting to look a bit more dressed up. And surprise, H&M has an awesome selection!
OUTFIT IDEA: oversized sweater and treggings/pair of skinny jeans
Trouser Leggings (treggings)
Trouser leggings take your leggings to the next level + they’re super comfy. Wondering where to even find a pair? Zara and H&M!
OUTFIT IDEA: treggings, an oversized sweater, and heels
Satin/Velvet
There are SO many fun satin/velvet pieces this time of year. Two fabrics that can easily make your outfit Holiday ready.
- Throw your hair up with a satin/velvet hair tie
- Find a pair of velvet shoes, a dress, camisole, or blazer
- Tuck a satin blouse into a pair of jeans
Do you have any more ideas on how to dress simply for the Holidays? The best part is you can easily pair the items we mentioned together to create the perfect Holiday outfit for YOU! And if you need help figuring out what to wear this time of year, don’t hesitate to ask.
I am absolutely loving the variety of different outfits and pictures for this post, it really gives me a lot of different outfits ideas for the long holiday season. I am really loving the mixing of patterns in all the outfits, it really adds a lot of texture and makes the outfit all the more interesting. These are all such cozy, fun looks!
