Investing in basic wardrobe staples is KEY. Even if you don’t find yourself dressing up a ton, we still think it’s important. Having items in your closet that are going to hold up and won’t go out of style is going to save you time and money. We’ve rounded up 5 basic wardrobe staples, that you will always be able to rely on.

5 Basic Wardrobe Staples

You honestly don’t need a ton of staple pieces in your wardrobe. Start by asking yourself what you gravitate towards the most. If it’s only two items, then only invest in those two.

Keep in mind that you should try your best at investing in items that are going to be versatile and that can be worn time and time again. The five pieces we suggest thinking about adding to your closet are a coat/jacket, a camisole, a sweater, a dress, and a jumpsuit/pair of pants.

Coat/Jacket

If you find yourself always needing an extra layer during Winter, consider investing in an outerwear piece that will stand the test of time. The material options are endless, so here are some that are going to be nice quality:

• Cashmere
• Down
• Fur
• Leather
• Suede
• Wool
• Velvet

Investing in a coat/jacket isn’t for everyone. This option will most likely benefit those who work or find themselves attending events during the Holiday/Winter season.

For us, we haven’t found the need to really invest in a coat/jacket because of our casual day to day life. If that’s the case look for a more affordable option that’s still going to be nice quality.

Camisole

Camisoles can be worn for all four seasons, which makes for a great reason to own a few. Plus, you can find very affordable options that come in all different styles.

Layer over a long sleeve top, throw on some outerwear, pair with your favorite sweater, or just wear alone. Not to mention, you can easily take a camisole from day to night in just a few steps.

Sweater

Sweaters are one of our favorite things about the Holiday season. They’re cozy, keep you warm, and are easy to style. If sweaters are your thing, think about investing in a sweater made of nice material. Keep in mind that you typically will have to spend more, but you can always keep your out for a good sale. Wondering what type of material you should look for? Here are some options:

• Cashmere
• Wool
• Silk
• Linen

Dress

Dresses are feminine, but not everyone’s cup of tea. We like having a dress in our closet that we will always be able to wear for those certain occasions. If you wear dresses for work, think of purchasing a few simple ones that are going to last. By having a few simple dresses in your closet you are able to wear them over and over again when styling with different accessories.

Not huge on wearing dresses all the time, but still love them? Still, consider having one great quality dress in your closet. Jumpsuit/Pants

Jumpsuits are a one-stop shop. Just put it on and you are ready for whatever occasion lies ahead. When looking for a pantsuit look for a classic color and cut – that way it can be worn for years to come.

A great pair of black pants is a true must in your closet. Find a pair that you are comfortable in and they will take from work to brunch. They will be your Sunday – Saturday pair of pants.
