This time of year is our favorite! It’s starting to get a little too cold for our liking, but we do love that we can LAYER, LAYER, LAYER. You start to get creative when it’s so chilly out and we’re finding that we don’t even have to put away our summer clothes to do just that.
How To Layer For Winter
If you’ve seen any of our previous blog posts from the past couple of months, you’ll notice a lot of our items have been on repeat. Purchasing new clothes is the best, but we also want to encourage you all to shop your own closets. Have fun recreating looks with clothes that are already sitting in your closet, it even may end up being a new favorite outfit of yours. The outfit tips we’re about to share on how to layer for Winter are pretty simple, but let’s start talking anyway.
1. Layering an oversized sweater over a long sleeve tee
Instead of getting rid of any plain long sleeve tees you might not be wearing, try layering them under an oversized sweater. It’s going to give you added warmth for this time of year + that layer look is oh so cute. Let the sleeves peek out and then throw on that statement coat of yours to finish the look.
TIP: go for an oversized long sleeve tee and/or size up to really get that look you are wanting to go for.
2. chunky sweater and faux fur coat
This is a look that many of us can throw together because of owning sweaters for the winter time + a nicer looking coat for any dressed up occasions. There are so many inexpensive faux fur coats out there… we did a whole post on How To Style A Faux Fur Jacket where we linked a ton of our favorites. We promise that your mood and confidence just elevate a little more when you are rocking your faux fur coat.
TIP: when pairing an oversized or chunky knit sweater, think of proportion. Stick to more form-fitting pants like skinny jeans or leggings so you don’t look too bulky.
3. Sweatshirt and Coat
I would honestly start a collection of sweatshirts because I love them that much. You don’t only have to pair a sweatshirt with sweatpants, although we do prefer it to be that way. Find a sweatshirt that looks like it’s supposed to be styled with jeans and do just that.
TIP: pairing your sweatshirt with a longer coat and heels will help make your look a bit more dressed up.
4. Camisole and Turtleneck
No need to put away your camisoles once the temps start dropping. Start layering thinner long sleeves under your cami. To create a Parisian chic look, choose to wear head to toe all the same color… then tuck your cami in for that put together look.
TIP: If you have a lace camisole that is oversized, layer under your sweater (v neck especially) for added texture with that lace.
5. Camisole and Jacket
Bringing out that camisole again! It’s as easy as throwing on a thicker jacket over your cami. This would be ideal for a night out with some girlfriends.
6. Jacket and long sleeve tee
Long sleeve tees can be pretty basic when worn by themselves, so adding a jacket can help with just that. This is ideal for a casual look on the go!
TIP: mixing your prints is a fun way to bring a long sleeve tee and jacket to the next level.
7. wool coat and sweater
This is one that most of us are already doing during the winter time, a wool coat and sweater. A tan wool coat is a great item to invest in because they stand the test of time and go with any color.
TIP: to make your wool coat a 2 in 1 coat, buy a faux fur stole that you can easily throw on over the collar.
8. teddy coat and sweater
Want to look and feel on trend? Teddy coats are the way to go. They’re so versatile because they can be styled with jeans, trousers, leggings, or sweatpants.
TIP: teddy coats come in all different thicknesses, so you’ll be able to find one that best suits your life.
Love, love love this post!! Your pics and outfits are awesome. Love the cami over a long sleeve shirt idea. Also love the chunky sweater with the faux fur coat. You girls are the best!!
