Styling Two Wool Coat Outfits

Styling Wool Coats

Hey Monday and hey everyone! Hoping you all had a great weekend. Our weekend didn’t consist of that much. We are starting the Tone It Up 5 day detox today & we’re thinking about doing a whole blog post on what we think of it. Let us know if that’s something you all are interested in!! We got to shoot with the amazing Hannah Schweiss last Thursday and we seriously had the best time. Let’s talk photography for a second. When it comes to taking pics we have ZERO clue on what we’re doing! So with that, we were beyond excited to work with Hannah & can’t wait to keep working with her. Improve our photos and maybe learn a few skills along the way, yes please!

Today we’re sharing two wool coats that we absolutely adore. They’re not only great to keep ya warm during the winter (you can throw on a scarf as well) but they honestly make your outfit look way more dressed up then it may be. You could even throw on your wool coat with some activewear / loungewear!

#1 Color Blocked Wool Coat

I’m usually not a huge coat fan, especially a more structured coat. I tend to layer with sweaters in the winter time, but obviously something in me fell in love with the wool coat I am wearing! The color blocked detail adds the perfect twist to your simple wool coat. Totally not knocking a plain wool coat though 😉 We went to a fancier place for dinner one night and I threw on this coat with some black pants and black boots. Which BTW I actually wore jeans with no rips, which is usually never haha! I barely have any fancy clothes in my closet, so this coat was perfect.

My color blocked jacket sold out super fast, but you can get notified for when it comes back HERE. I can’t seem to find any other color blocked coats, SOOOO I’ll just share some tan and some black wool coats we are loving just as much. If you’re unsure of buying a wool coat like I was at first because it just isn’t something you would normally wear, go for a coat that isn’t as structured. You will get the same look, but not feel as dressed up!

If you want another look at this jacket, I actually wore it on THIS Instagram post. From all black to all white!

#2 Tan Wool – Blend Coat

SHOP MY SIMILAR LOOK

To be honest I truly hate winter coats. I just find them bothersome when you are driving and then when you are in the store you have to carry it. So I just tend to torture myself and run quickly in and out of wherever I am going! That being said, I do love a great wool coat. I feel like a classic cut coat looks great with whatever your style is.

I feel like my coat truly goes with just about anything I choose to wear. I love to style this coat as part of my outfit! I think it just adds a great touch to my look.

And we just have to talk about the faux fur stole. I am seriously obsessed with how much detail it adds to this everyday coat! What I love most is that I can easily add it without having to commit to a coat that already comes with a fur collar + it will save you money!

Style, Care & Cost

Wool coats can be more on the pricier side, but are a great investment item to have in your closet. They offer a lot of warmth without a lot of bulk. Most wool coats do not go out of style and can be worn for years to come! Choosing a basic color like tan, black, or grey will allow you to wear it with really any outfit you own.

When choosing a wool coat choose a classic cut to stand the test of time! Make sure that it fits well and isn’t too long – you want to make a statement in your coat, not look like you are drowning in it.

  • A coat should fit well in the shoulders and hang straight down from there
  • If you are more on the petite side, look for a coat in a petite size so it fits you properly!

If you do not want to pay the price but love the look of a wool coat, look for a wool blend. They are much cheaper and easier to care for! Speaking of care, wool coats typically have to be dry cleaned so keep that in mind.

Insider tip: If you are in the market for a winter coat, but don’t wait to pay full price start looking for coats to go on sale around the end of December early January! You can find amazing deals at a fraction of the cost & who doesn’t love that?
